China's first moon rover 'Jade Rabbit' rolls to moon surface

China's first moon rover, Yutu, or Jade Rabbit, separated from the lander early on Sunday, several hours after the Chang'e-3 probe soft-landed on the lunar surface.

The 140 kg six-wheeled rover touched the lunar surface at 4:35 a.m., leaving deep trace on the loose lunar soil. The process was recorded by the camera on the lander and the images were sent to the earth, according to the Beijing Aerospace Control Center.

10 Facts About Great White Sharks

Remarkably little is known about great white sharks, but they are similar to humans in a lot of ways - they give birth to live young, maintain a higher body temperature than their surroundings and they are apex predators. There are also many misconceptions about these sharks: people think they don't get cancer and that they reside mainly in shallow waters near beaches. In this video I summarize some of the most interesting things I learned about sharks on my cage diving adventure.

Police climb through innocent family's bedroom window, shoot their 2 dogs - No warrant, no evidence

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, FL -- An innocent Florida family was terrorized by police who broke into their bedroom at 10:30 PM on Tuesday and opened fire on their pet dogs.

Police were searching the area for a person of interest. Without any evidence or a warrant, they decided to climb into the home of Cristina Moses and her fiance Travis Nicholas, right through a bedroom window.

The couple was awoken to the sound of intruders in their home -- at least six of them -- and were quickly dragged from their bedroom and into the hallway. Guns were aimed at them and they had boots placed on their backs.

"The cops threw Cristina on the ground, cussing," Nicholas said. "It was obvious that I'm not armed because I'm in my boxers."

Then the couple witnessed their two dogs get shot by police. Police claim that an officer was bitten, but the couple says they witnessed it clearly and their story contradicts the officers'.

"I'm in the doorway so I can see into the bedroom, and I see him shooting across the bed ... to my dogs that are on the opposite side of a queen-sized bed," Moses said. "I heard five shots go off. Around the third shot, I hopped up and I went 'No stop. No.' And he continued to fire a couple more shots after that," she said.

Moses was then detained in a patrol car for more than an hour because she "wouldn't shut up."

"All I did was keep asking if they could tell me what happened to my dogs," she said. "All they said was 'We'll take care of that later.'"

"Deputies entered the house through the open window in an effort to locate the suspect and to assure the safety of the occupants," says the police press release.

One dog had to be euthanized because of its injuries, the other survived with a leg wound.

Texas man sues GOP lawmaker and husband over months of workplace Tasings

8/7/13 - Report: A 45-year-old Texas man is suing a Republican state lawmaker and her husband over what he calls months of attacks with a Taser while working for them that left him paranoid in his private life. "I was constantly looking behind my shoulder, distracted, couldn't sleep," Bradley Jones told KHOU-TV. "I would even look behind my shower curtain at home."

KHOU reported on Tuesday that Jones has filed a civil suit against state Rep. Patricia Harless (R) and her husband, Sam Harless. The couple owns Fred Fincher Motors, where Jones has worked since 2009. But Jones' suit argues that Sam Harless provided other employees with a Taser and would film them sneaking up behind him and using the Taser on him in a series of incidents over the past nine months. The videos were posted online at one point, but have been taken down.

Jones' lawsuit accuses the couple, as well as two other employees, with assault and battery, and of failure to provide a safe workplace. He told KHOU that he did not quit at the time because he was trying to save up enough money to buy a home.

"I'm just happy that I'm an American and I'm in a country where the justice system works," Sam Harless told KHOU. "This is a frivolous lawsuit. Once the facts come out, it will be thrown out."

Miss Utah - Dumbest Pageant Answer Ever!!

On June 16, 2013, Miss Utah answered a question during the Miss USA pageant asked of her by "Real Housewife" NeNe Leakes regarding the unequal pay between men and women in the U.S. with, "create education better," according to the New York Post.

Marissa Powell, 21, who hails from Salt Lake City, was posed the query, "A recent report shows that in 40 percent of American families with children, women are the primary earners, yet they continue to earn less than men. What does that say about our society?"

In response to NeNe's question, Marissa stated, "I think we can relate this back to education, and how we are continuing to try to strive... to... figure out how to create jobs right now. That is the biggest problem right now."

Then, still seeming to desperately struggle with the question, she added, "I think, especially men are... um... seen as the leaders of this, and so we need to see how to... create education better... so that we can solve this problem. Thank you."

Shooting Oreos Made From Steel

The Oreo shooting pump gun was a major success a while ago.

The weapon functions so well that we have received several requests to test it with more lethal ammo - so we tried it!

Instead of a soft cookie, we used 45 mm diameter steel washers - in stacks of three. Those weigh over 100 grams, ten times more than the cookies.

Of course the weapon had to be enhanced as well - five times more rubber calls for a two handed cocking technique, and a chest plate was needed, too.

The devastation the heavy, edgy ammo causes is amazing. See how the washers tear a gaping wound canal through ballistic gelatin, and even punch out a gelatin "worm" while flying through a thick block. See how the washers smash through a melon PLUS the backstop, and see how they smash through a tough plastic tool case.

A quantum computer works in a totally different way from a classical computer. Quantum bits or 'qubits' can exist in a superposition state of both zero and one simultaneously. This means that a set of two qubits can be in a superposition of four states, which therefore require four numbers to uniquely identify the state. So the amount of information stored in N qubits is two to the power of N classical bits.

Russell Brand on MSNBC Mocking Media

A very funny interview with comedian Russell Brand who is setting out on a world comedy tour. Buy your tickets by visiting his website. Comedian Russell Brand terrified anchors on MSNBC's Morning Joe program by lecturing them about how the media distracts from real news by obsessing about superficial distractions.Brand almost immediately put host Mika Brzezinski on the back foot by describing his tour as an exploration of how Malcolm X, Gandhi, Che Guevara and Jesus Christ "are significant culturally and how icons are appropriated and used to designate consciousness and meaning....they're all people that died for a cause, they're all people whose icons are used to designate meaning, perhaps not in the manner in which they intended."

Brand then poked fun at MSNBC's army of "actors" in the back of the shot who were supposedly tweeting, noting that they were merely a gimmick to create the impression that the program was a hotbed of news.

The anchors began to get visibly uncomfortable when Brand made the point that mass media was an operation in changing information "so it suits a particular agenda" and that viewers were being manipulated.

Instead of addressing Brand's point, the anchors instead obsessed about the comedian's accent and his clothing.

"You're talking about me as if I'm not here and as if I'm an extraterrestrial," responded Brand, "thank you for your casual objectification."

"I'm a little nervous," retorted Brzezinski, presumably not used to entertaining guests on her program who act like real people.

When the conversation began to break down, Brand asked , "Is this what you all do for a living?" before hijacking the broadcast to talk about Edward Snowden, the NSA spying scandal and Bradley Manning.

"Look beyond the superficial, that's the problem with current affairs, you forget about what's important, you allow the agenda to be decided by superficial information -- what am I saying -- what am I talking about -- don't think about what I'm wearing, these things are redundant, superficial -- don't be distracted," said Brand as Brzezinski physically cowered.

Brand, who is a close friend of David Icke and was the only celebrity of note to draw attention to the Bilderberg Group with a recent tweet, is known for broaching topics of conversation which firmly go against the establishment grain. He also follows Alex Jones on Twitter.

His Brand X show routinely features guests from the counter-culture as well as those with controversial political views.

Raw footage of Fast Unit 53's (Chance Coldiron & Justin Cox) coverage of the Moore tornado that was used by KOCO5 during the event on May 20th, 2013. We watched as the tornado formed in front of us and rapidly intensified then moved across highway 37 in Newcastle, OK. Then the tornado continued to intensify as it tracked across the Canadian River and the interstate 44 bridge. The monster tornado was filmed from close range off the I-44 bridge north of Newcastle as it was headed for Moore.

This is just a whole lot of fun. Kawasaki hit a walk-off two-run double off Baltimore's struggling closer Jim Johnson—giving the Blue Jays a 6-5 win in a game they trailed 5-2 going into in the ninth—and delivered a great impromptu-yet-also-scripted post-game interview.

Kawasaki is called on camera for a post-game interview by teammate Mark DeRosa and proceeds to take the microphone and yell his name and country of origin. He then reads from prepared note cards and gets pied-and-Gatoraded. Good times all around.

In 2005, author David Foster Wallace was asked to give the commencement address to the 2005 graduating class of Kenyon College. However, the resulting speech didn't become widely known until 3 years later, after his tragic death. It is, without a doubt, some of the best life advice we've ever come across, and perhaps the most simple and elegant explanation of the real value of education.
We made this video, built around an abridged version of the original audio recording, with the hopes that the core message of the speech could reach a wider audience who might not have otherwise been interested. However, we encourage everyone to seek out the full speech (because, in this case, the book is definitely better than the movie).

EPIC Matrix effect w/ a ceiling fan & 1 GoPro (ghetto bullet time)

A simple trick to get awesome Matrix-like "Bullet Time" footage for waaaaay less money than most people spend on it with huge camera arrays.

I shot all off this footage with a GoPro HD Hero 3 at 240 fps. NO TWIXTOR!!!... but I did you use After Effects smooth motion thing in parts which is pretty much the same thing... it just seems like writing NO TWIXTOR is like a badge of honor for slow mo videos for some reason... so I wanted to put it in there.
